Game Ready ® and Cryotherapy

During Physical Rehabilitation cryotherapy, or ice therapy, is used as a part of the RICE regimen (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation) and is an integral part of recovery. As established for many years, ice therapy has been known to reduce inflammation and pain and should be used during the Acute Phase of care as well as times throughout the treatment plan that a newly introduced activity may cause temporary inflammation.

There are a few key types of cryotherapy that are typically used- including cold packs and Biofreeze®, a topical pain reliever, and Game Ready ®. All of these modalities help to decrease pain, inflammation, and enhance the effects of the treatment. They can also be key components to our Home Exercise Programs.

Game Ready ® Vasoneumatic Cryotherapy:

Game Ready ® is a highly specialized form of icing that has been designed to "pump" out the inflammation from the injured area. It combines active compression with circumferential cooling in one system that delivers greater benefits than standard cold therapy alone.

Many professional athletes and medical professionals choose Game Ready ® as a part of the RICE regimen because it uniquely combines adjustable cold and intermittent compression to deliver the two most difficult-to-manage aspects of RICE in one easy-to-use treatment system.

With this system, there is a Dual-Action wrap, anatomically specific for each body part and engineered using patented space-suit technology, which simultaneously supplies intermittent compression and cold therapy, both of which are fully customizable based on the patient's needs. Here at PPM, we offer this service for most body parts, including Low Back, Mid Back, Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand, Hip and Groin, Knee, Shin, Ankle and Foot.
